Meanwhile in Pembury three good eggs, Chris from St. Anselm’s and Robin and Tony from Wateringbury, are knuckling down to work for a second day restoring Newman’s pews. Because the pews were designed to stand along a raised floor Littlemore the ends are not even. So we are adding feet to them to ensure nothing is destroyed and making them good for use in our parish.
Yesterday the men were fortunate to labour in bright sunshine but today the rain has arrived. I therefore dashed home for the gazebo to provide cover as the sawmill is pressed into action. We all owe a huge debt of gratitude to them.
